Japan Trip, 3/24

Kyoto-Tokyo. Shinkansen.

Wedding Guests at Meiji Jinja.
All out of reserved seats, so took a jiyuseki. In the Tokyo station, put the larger sack into a coin locker. Took a long time to get out of the station [because it was a huge complex and was confusing which way took to which exit].

Getting Ready for the Wedding Pictures.
Took a subway to Rokubongi. Nothing interesting there [I think because it was during the day and I wasn't with someone who knew the area].

Fixing Up for the Pictures.
A bit of walking and a subway took me to Yoyogi. At Meiji jingu, saw a group of people taking wedding pictures and an unknown procession [of people with traditional costumes].
Another Procession.

Yoyogi was a bit disappointing. They banned punk bands inside the park [there were a few just outside, but not too interesting], so there were only "normal" people. The park was fairly big, but it wasn't green enough.

Yoyogi Park.

Pedestrians at Ginza.
Came down a very crowded street [in front of Yoyogi] and took a subway to Ginza [which had some streets blocked off so the pedestrians could roam everywhere]. I thought the specialty of Tokyo is "crowd". Went to the Sony building. Saw GT3, but PS2's aliasing is quite disturbing. Clie was interesting, but will wait for Samsung's Palm phone [which I have right now]. BTW, a lot of handphones have color screens with about 7~8 lines of Japanese texts [and most of them were of "stick" types, thin, but long].

A Small Police Booth, Where a Boy Was Looking for His Mom.
Had some time, so went to Akihabara. Subways are definitely confusing with different operating companies, but still managed around. Since I didn't have any particular thing to buy, it wasn't too exciting [and I didn't really know the good places]. Besides I was getting really tired.

Shops Along the Path Toward Senso-ji.
Came back to the Tokyo station to pick up the bag. Took a subway to Asakusa. Asked a bit around to find Ryokan Shigetsu. It's a fairly modern hotel [with a restaurant on the ground floor]. They only had a western-style room [very small].

Lanterns at Senso-ji.
Went out to get some stuff, but instead went into Asakusa-dera and took some pictures [the corridors of shops leading to the temple were very interesting]. Went out [of the shop corridors] to still get some snacks, but found a Starbucks again. Combini ni ite chokoreto wo katta. On the way back, noticed that, at a small "Chinese" snack shop, they were selling "BiBimPa"! Strange. [It took me a while to recognize what it was because the spelling was a bit different from the actual Korean word.]

A Huge Lantern (?).
Things noticed [on the subway ads, mostly]. Ewan McGregor sells Aeon, an English language school. Brat Pitt sells Edwin (isn't it a Korean brand?). Yo-Yo Ma sells Royal Whiskey. Tiger sells canned coffee drinks (Wanda).

[On TV shows] They display the sponsors' names in the middle of the shows, kind of interrupting them. Also, they change to commercials [rather] abruptly just before the important scenes (i.e., neither sound cues nor pauses).

My Room at Ryokan Shigetsu.
Tiny Bathroom.
